Do you have some spare time to help oversee the strategy for an organisation that looks after vulnerable people with the most complex of needs?

Avenues is a group of charities that supports people with the most complex needs to live the best life possible. We are just about to agree our new three year strategic plan where access to housing opportunities is a main theme. We currently lack someone with experience in social housing and development on our board and so we are looking for the right person to join us.


The successful candidate should be able to commit themselves to around 15 hours per month of Avenues business which could include telephone conversations, reading board papers in advance of meetings and physical presence at around one meeting per month based in Kent and/or London.

What skills and expertise will you need?

Experience of working for a registered social landlord or local authority at a senior level alongside an understanding and knowledge of supported living and its regulation would be important. The successful candidate would have knowledge of the sector and the drive to approach the opportunities and challenges that we face. Experience of housing management and/or social housing policy would be an added advantage but is not essential. The right person must of course have a demonstrable commitment to high standards of care for vulnerable people and be comfortable acting as an ambassador for Avenues.
