Welmede is part of the Avenues Group; a specialist provider of social care, supporting people with complex needs to enjoy life.

We are looking for a senior support worker to join our team in Woking to support young adults and adults with communication difficulties, autism, anxiety and down syndrome.

Woking Supported Living service supports service users across the Woking area in their own homes, through a mixture of 1:1 support at home and in the community. The areas covered can include Knaphill, Goldsworth Park, and Maybury and the support hours are varied.


In this role you will work alongside the Service Management Team to ensure operational and administrative systems are used effectively to meet the needs of the service e.g. rota planning, personal care plans, shift lead, overseeing keyworker meetings, planning activities as well as practice lead person centred active support.


Our services are shaped around each person, and we work with their families and other professionals to understand what they need. We then support them with everyday activities like taking a shower, making a cup of tea, or trying something new.

And it’s also about working with them on bigger decisions, like where they want to live, or who they want to build relationships with. 

Due to the nature of this role it is essential for the successful applicant to hold a full valid UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

What skills and expertise will you need?

Previous experience or training is essential (although we provide lots of that). You will need to demonstrate that you share our values of Respect, Excellence, Integrity and Pride, and…

  • hold a full valid driving licence and access to own vehicle for business use
  • be passionate about supporting others
  • have an understanding of and experience with supporting people with disabilities
  • be able to demonstrate a positive approach to Active Support
  • be able to effectively supervise and develop staff
  • be IT literate
  • be flexible to work early morning shifts, evening shifts and occasional night shifts across a 7 day rota.
