Avenues is a group of charities that supports people who are living with disabilities, illness or injury to live the best life possible. We support people who have learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues, acquired brain injury and dementia in supported living schemes, residential care homes and through outreach or homecare.

 

Avenues East is a subsidiary of the Group who works in and around Suffolk, Cambridge and Shropshire. They anticipate growth within these areas in the coming years but also plan to extend their reach into neighbouring counties.

 

Avenues East are currently looking for 5 trustees with any mix of the following skills or attributes:

  • Direct experience of working within social care or the NHS with an understanding of the different operational contexts of the public, voluntary and private sectors;
  • Entrepreneurial / business experience with a strong commitment to organisational development and improvement; 
  • Someone with an empathy towards disabled or injured people coupled with excellent communication skills and an affinity with the values of Avenues;
  • Knowledge/expertise of any of our neighbouring social care authorities, commissioning within social care or Local Government;
  • Senior level financial experience; and
  • Previous non-executive experience, with the strategic skills and commercial acumen necessary to ensure excellent governance and board performance.

 

We are also very keen to hear from younger people looking for trustee experience.

 

In addition there is an expectation that any trustee will be IT literate and will be able to commit themselves to around two days per month of Avenues business which includes physical presence at one meeting based in Ipswich, Suffolk.
